A relatively new trend is the conversion of excessive electrical power (wind or solar generated) into hydrogen by hydrolysis of water. Hydrogen generated in this way may be stored, converted into ammonia or methanol or injected into the natural gas grid. In this way the problem of balancing the supply and need of electrical power can be potentially solved. Unlike inferred type measurements, the WIM COMPAS F can monitor the Wobbe Index and Calorific Value of natural gas/hydrogen mixtures with high accuracy.  Also, an optional output for hydrogen content is available. This signal can be important for product quality as hydrogen has impact on flame length, flame lift and emissivity in fired installations like glass and ceramic ovens.
