The production of biogas from waste organic material is becoming increasingly important as it provides a sustainable source of energy. Raw biogas from digesters typically has a high H2S and water content. Before upgrading to a quality suitable for injection into the gas grid, H2S and water removal is necessary. For upgrading various technologies like membrane separation, CO2 scrubbing, pressure swing absorption and cryogenic are applied. The WIM COMPAS F is capable of measuring the Wobbe Index and Calorific Value of raw, wet and corrosive biogas as well as biogas before and after upgrading. These measurements give valuable information on the status of the fermentation and the upgrading process and provide a fast and accurate signal for feedback and feed forward control purposes.
